What I like about the new primes - it has new graphics.

What I don't like - I think the new format has taken away the ease of use of the site.

Firstly, in the top level of the tree categories the user picture and ranking comes first , I don't know about you but I was taught to put the most important thing first to grab the users attention.  The way it's set up means the user is more focused on who wrote the message rather than what the question was about.  The old mapleprimes had the question on the left and the user name on the right.

User pictures I don't believe should belong cluttering up useful space in the top levels of a category.

Also, I'm not understanding why the full content of a question needs to be displayed in the top levels.  A question alone should be, and users tend to, summarize what it is they are asking in a few words.  Yes, some people have complained about the question not being specific enough.  But weighing in on the options, a single question versus cluttering the whole mapleprimes site with hard to sort information ... I think you'll choose ease of use over someone who's asked a fairly vague question.

The template this site was modelled after has some layout issues, as I have explained above, that really have never been addressed.  I hope mapleprimes can address some of those issues.

In the old mapleprimes, you would select a top level category and then given a summary of the questions, where you could see 15 or questions at once.  Here we get the question and everything the user wrote - you can only see 3 or 4 questions at a time.

I also noticed the questions are ordered by the date of the first post and not by the date of the last post.  I can see the reasoning but if someone finds an old post and has a question for it, and posts it there for whatever reason, if they don't catch the question in the recent posts column it may never be seen.  Some posts have never really been closed.  Occassionally I have added improved answers to some older posts.

In summary, navigation could be easier and clutter could be reduced.  I tried mapleprimes on dialup last night and none of the graphics loaded, I only had text.
