I am new to Maple and I am looking for these examples and am having trouble. Could someone lead me in the right direction or tell me which Maple books to purchase? example: precalculus or calculus or one of the new user guide books. I can't seem to find much on "The Square Root Property" and factoring or Solvng Equations by completing the Square, Quadratic Formula and Discriminant. I know I basically need to just play with the applications but know there must be information somewhere.
I was just wondering if anyone has taken the time to start on a wiki for maple. I have seen many other small wikis that work quite well for programming languages and environments, and feel that one for maple would be a great benefit for the community. If there is one, would someone please kindly point me towards it. If there is not one, is there anyone who'd be interested in starting one?
It seems like the Beta distribution in the Statistics package doesn't work properly when trying to define a particular Beta distribution since Beta(a,b) also refers to a integral when a and b are fixed numbers. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way to get around this problem other than to define your own Beta pdf? Jim
Maple 10 (patched to 10.03) is inconsistent with its font choice in Maplet MathMLViewer elements when the fontsize option is set. If you don't set fontsize, then equations are typeset as expected with variables in italic font, just like in an ordinary Maple worksheet. But if you set fontsize to say 18pt, suddenly the variables are typeset in upright font. For instance try the following:
with(Maplets[Elements]):
Eq := [diff(u(x,y),x)= diff(v(x,y),y), diff(u(x,y),y)=-diff(v(x,y),x)];
maplet := Maplet([
   [BoxCell("Fontsize 18:")],
In Maple 10 (patched to 10.03), there seems to be a bug in Typesetting[Suppress] when the function name is a Greek letter name. For instance the code interface(typesetting=extended): Typesetting[Suppress](eta(x)): diff(eta(x),x) = eta(x); should typeset like   η' = η or perhaps    d η / d x = η (depending on your "prime" settings). But one actually sees    η' = eta which is incorrect, or at least inconsistent and unexpected. More careful tests show that the whole Greek alphabet is affected similarly, apart from pi and zeta, which are handled slightly differently though still incorrectly.
Installing 9.03 patch over the CD Maple 9.01 version (Win XP SP2, 2GB RAM) I have met, apparently, the same java-RAM problem (Standard does not start) that this CD version has before replacing maplew9.exe with the version of the FAQ area of Maplesoft site. But this maplew9.exe replacement does not patch the patch. So, I wonder whether there is a solution for 9.03 or I should turn back to 9.01.
Hi, I have a big Problem, I have experimental points which can be describe by a complex function. I can get data points of the real part and of the imaginary partof the function: REAL PART: [0.1000000000e-1, 5.1328], [0.2000000000e-1, 5.1295], [0.4000000000e-1, 5.1246], [0.8000000000e-1, 5.1207], [.1600000000, 5.1135], [.3200000000, 5.1031], [.6400000000, 5.0936], [1.280000000, 5.081], [2.560000000, 5.0688], [5.120000000, 5.0582], [10.24000000, 5.0481], [20.48000000, 5.038], [40.96000000, 5.0281], [81.92000000, 5.0174], [163.8400000, 5.0051], [327.6800000, 4.9908], [655.3600000, 4.9733], [1310.700000, 4.9518], [2621.400000, 4.9254], [5242.900000, 4.8927], [10486.00000, 4.8534], [20972.00000, 4.8077], [41943.00000, 4.7539], [83886.00000, 4.6957], [167770.0000, 4.6343], [335540.0000, 4.5702], [671090.0000, 4.5076], [1342200.000, 4.4478], [2684400.000, 4.3949], [5368700.000, 4.3688], [10000000.00, 4.288]
I am just a beginner to use Maple and now I have a second order linear equation with boundary conditions to solve. I want to get the numerical solutions and plot the solutions. However, I have tried many times, and still do not get the solution. So I want to ask for help. my eqaution is simple but just sort of long. y"(x)=4-8(1-2/r)(1/r**3+1/r**2), here r=43.48arctan(0.05x-1.23)+41.1, The input of my program in Maple is: restart; sol:=dsolve({diff(y(x),x$2)=((1-2/(43.48*arctan(0.05*x-1.23)+41.1))((43.48*arctan(0.05*x-1.23)+41.1)^(-3)+(43.48*arctan(0.05*x-1.23)+41.1)^(-2))*8-4)*y(x),y(-2)=-0.65,y(40)=-0.11},y(x),numeric);

How do I use Matrices to solve linear equations?
I'm using Windows XP prof. edt. and Maple 9.5 I installed Maple and it is running properly but there is an important problem with the user-interface of Maple ; For example, scroll bars,check boxes,sliders. . . can not be seen on the interface. Therefore, for instance in the "Options", I can not understand whether a checkbox is checked or not. (The most important part of the problem :( ) I've already installed Java VM (jre1.5.0_06) What should I do ?

I used to have Maple 10.02 running on Fedora Core 4. I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 5, and 10.02 no longer runs (no error is given). I can't install Maple 10 off the CD or the downloaded 10.03.
Let A be an n by n (0,1)-matrix. How draw the graph of the adjacecy matrix A?
Do you think that it's possible for Maple to ever be free software? I
suppose I should emphasise that this is "free as in freedom",
regardless of whether Maplesoft decides to keep charging money for its
use or not. Me, I don't see it happening in the near future, but I
harbour hope that it could happen for the following reasons:

1) Other success stories of free software, such as the Firefox
browser.

2) Maple, unlike the other leading brand, was built in a purely
academic environment by a community of mathematicians and
scientists who understand the need for free and open collaboration
