MaplePrimes Questions

So I came across the conversion ability in Maple 10 (My school had some trouble with the registry, it's fixed now, so we're up to date with 10!) Anyways, so I made it convert simple statements and functions, but now my question lies in exactly how deep can this conversion functionality go? Is it possible to say write a java program and convert it into a Maplet and vice versa? I know that Maplet doesn't exactly work like a full blown computer language as alec made clear in his post on the front page, but lets say I wanted to make a window in Maplet, can I convert that from Maplet to java and
for example sin(x) from 0..5Pi how would i count the roots? there obviously would be 6 roots but is there a maple command to count these for me? thanks
my computer is too slowly , its evaluating about 12 hours,but have no result. P4 512MB windows XPsp2 Maple 9.5 who have the strongest compter who can try to run it. So I was messing around with Maple somemore, and I got the image idea to work, now my question is, is there a timer system for Maple? I have looked at the example that Maple 9 presents to me, but it's very... very complex for what I want. You see in the example it says to use the computer clock as a form of time, and this is technically possible by using -now() command (or something like that) to determine what the time was, what time it started, and then using that to determine when to set it off... though the details are a bit fuzzy now, it is still a rather extensive way of doing a simple thing.

I've been trying to figure this out for the life of me and I keep getting an error somewhere. I'm trying to set it up so I have values for all four sides so I've used an array of variables to assign the values.. ie: [0,1] [1,1] [1,0] [0,0] but when i try and combine all of these in the plot, I get an error. Any help would greatly be apperciated. Thanks!

Hi everybody, As a part of some general problem, I need to solve a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations.I try to get a numerical solution, so I use the "dsolve numeric" command. In same cases, the Maple print out two errors that I didn't find in his help instruction. The first one is: error, (in dsolve/numeric/bvp) cannot determine if this expression is true or false: 20*nerr
I am trying to get students to solve inequalities. They have to enter intervals and I modify their response-string before processing it. Something weird happens when using RegSubs. I have reduced the behaviour to the following maple*-code: expr := convert("$RESPONSE",string); with(StringTools); expr1:=RegSubs(",(.+)[)]"=",Open(\\1))",expr); evalb(expr1="(0,Open(1))"); This returns true when I enter "(0,25)" (without the quotes of course; you can replace 25 with anything you like). So, instead of the parenthesised .+, the \\1 just yields a 1. When I execute the code in my own Maple10, the correct substitution is made. I think our server runs Maple9. Any comment is appreciated.

g := x -> x^3+x^2-3*x; h := 0.01; x := 1; yaydone := (g(x+h)-g(x-h))/(2*(h)); OK, I did some poking through my book, and it shows how to solve for the first derivative using the Central Difference method, it actually took me quite a while to get this formula going. This will solve for the first derivative using the Central Difference Method. I didn’t understand the book at first and thought I was supposed to use The Derivative of g(1+h) minus The Derivative of g(1-h). This really had me boggled. So now I am able to solve for the first derivative using the Central Difference Method My question is how to solve for the second & third derivative. My book has no examples for solving for anything other than the first derivative. Thanks so much for the help guys, I truly do appreciate it and I truly hate the book that I got to learn from
hi it seems that i realy did not undersand modules in maple 10 so here I come with a few question... 1, is possible to use modules right as a objects like in c++? 2, i want to have an objects: point,list where i want make list of points "pointlist:=list, pointlist.new(2,5),etc.(few points)" and i want to get list of my points related to variable poinlist.... so i need: make a new type: "point" and object "list" which can handle data of point type... how canI do this?
My mouse wheel doesn't work with Maple 6 and Windows XP. Many of my colleaques are complaining the same. How to fix this problem?
