My query has spawned two new questions.

1) Why won't this work?

  First embed and Text area component TextArea0
  SetProperty(TextArea0,'value',showstat(SetProperty))

  I thought the contents of the procedure would be entered into TextArea0.

2) While code is being evaluated in Maple, is it possible to continue working within the same kernel?  or must one have to be in a separate Maple (kernel) window?

Is it possible to programmatically insert an embedded component, say for example a TextArea0?

The simplification of 1/sqrt(2) is always simplified or unsimplified as the case may be to sqrt(2)/2.  It is a matter of opinion which is simpler I suppose, but throughout mathematics teachings I've always learned cos(45) as 1/sqrt(2) as I'm sure the rest of you all have as well. Yes it is merely aesthetic, but a quirk to see it as sqrt(2)/2

Is the simplification process to get radicals in the numerator rather than the denominator?  I think yes if the answer...

I have been having difficulties getting the Maple Player to start on my laptop.  PIII 933 Mhz Win XP 752Mb RAM

Initially didn't work so I tried to uninstall (not an option in the program files list - needed to be run from the folder) at which point I came across JVM not detected.  So I had to download and install the latest Java.  At that point the uninstall process was okay. 

I re-installed and still was unable to start the player. ...
