@nm Yeah I know the trick and have sometimes used it with MATLAB and python. The interface of Maple is less basic so I was wondering if it could be turned on from somewhere. Thank you for your answer

@nm Sorry, a bit bad explanation. Programs like TI-nSpire and Geogebra have this thing where when you type a bracket, it creates a grey closing bracket and the cursor stays between them. So if I just that type pi, I already have sin(pi). If I want sin(pi+2), I just continue typing +2 and it works. If I want to type something after the brackets, I just press arrow right and the cursor moves beyond the brackets
