I see, thanks Robert, that's indeed the behavior I have often observed.

what a shame that classic and standard are not better connected ...

if classic is to be phased out, what a real shame ...

changevar does even a little more than you initially requested, as it simplifies the expression by factoring and cancelling out Pi

student[changevar](w=2*Pi*f,Xw);
               -sin(2 Pi f) cos(10 Pi f) - sin(8 Pi f)
               ---------------------------------------
                      Pi f (-1 + 4 f) (4 f + 1)

for some reason I seem to fail every time I try to convert standard to classic, I usually copy-paste the content instead, which is very tedious and time-consuming, does the conversion from mw to mws work for you?

Maple is not really solving your system I'm afraid.

I have only recently started using the blog, but let me tell you what I think I've figured out about it --  I see it as a useful place to save questions to yourself, things to think about that you might easily forget about, syntheses and summaries to yourself, anything that does not involve a very specific question perhaps. I also discovered that (with mapleprimes's current search functionalities) I had a hard time tracking my own past questions, so putting them on a blog serves a filing purpose too. And for some bloggers with unusually high production rates, the blog may also be a way to keep traffic down in the other forums.

things had gone very smoothly over the past few years until this spate of attacks, now and then everyone is susceptible to spam, one of those things...

who's holding the smoking gun? the timing of the attack tells us a human has been behind this, and a human with some knowledge of Christmas holiday routines at mapleprimes ...

into the comment window, this may be the only way to know what your particular problem is.

In the past few days a user named xaver has repeatedly posted output from Mathematica sessions, without commenting about purpose -- you may be referring to similar incidents. Very annoying. Along the way xaver has accumulated something like 25 "points". A few more of those and this user will be considered as a Maple expert!

Some websites have a feature (thumbs up or down) where you can assign positive and negative votes to posts. A post receiving, say, 5 negative votes (from experienced users, needless to say) would be considered for deletion by administrators. This is one way to deal with irrelevant posts.

While user feedback is probably the best way to address these irrelevant posts, robot-generated spam is an altogether different problem.
