@Doug Meade Sorry they do get used just one more line down not included in the post. I originally thought the same thing until I looked over the example project 5 times. The REAL problem was the example was given in English (inches) then changed into Metric (Cm) so I was changing values 1-15.9 (including all decimals .1) for those curves and got nothing near the 235cm^3 or 265cm^3 criteria. I was also trying to get a cycloid curve for the stem but that didn't work because it is parametric or in terms of x and y. So I chose a sine wave modified a little. However I do still want to know how that works: A cycloid curve for the stem. 

@tomleslie yes that is the correct solution silly mistake on my part but the problem is we are not taught maple in this class but rather told figure it out. So I know my Ti-84 better than Maple so yes find where f1 intersects f2 using the Ti-84 trace command and that is the correct solution! Thank you for the help.
