I have a polynomial of 4th order and I wanted to use allvalues on the RootOf expression. It then says:

So apparently the expression is reducible but how do I do that?

I hope my question is not to general. I have a polynomial of 8th order

expression:=a8(z) * x^8 + .... + a1(z) * x + a0(z) = 0

on which I am using solve/RootOf

sol:=[solve(expression,x)]

Now when I plot it against z the solution has a jump, why?

When deriving the polynomial I could as well have used another variable instead of x above, say y. These two are related by a function...Then when I write down the 8th order polynomial in y and use RootOf/solve, then no jump occurs.

Is there a way to handle this because left of the jump the solution is not correct while right of it, it is...

Often after using collect(expression,x) the prefactors of x are within a bracket but typically contain factors in each term of the bracket that are equal and not pulled out of the bracket. Is there a way to ask maple to automatically factor out these after collecting?

I hope it is clear what I mean...

Is there a possiblity to print exponents in the axis labeling?

Say I have large numbers in 10^6. Then I want to write

labels=["x","y [10^6]"]

However I only found the e-notation within

sprintf("%0.0e", 10^6)

for example, which is not really what I want though.

Is is possible to tell the latex output what to do if it finds a symbol?

Suppose I have the following expression:

O3^2 + k_O3NO

The normal latex output just takes it as it is and also translates k_O3NO to k_O3NO with the underscore.

I however want it to read (latex notation in math mode)

\left[ \text{O}_3 \right]^2 + k_{\text{O}_3\text{NO}}

So is that possible without changing everything manually?

 

edit: Just as a remark, the output at the moment for this expression reads

{{\it O3}}^{2}+{\it k\_O3NO}

and is kinda awful if compiled in latex...

Is it also possible for maple to latex realizing where a line-break is necessary?
