You could e.g. convert the png to eps. Or use it directly in pdflatex.

And what would be the size of the output if exported e.g. as PNG?

For such cases, there is a useful option in the check box " Autosubscribe" in your profile (My account > Edit > Subscription Settings):

Checking this box allows you to be automatically subscribe to any thread you create or post a comment to. You will recieve an email with a title and link to the post.

Politeness is not cultural submission.

English, as is used in MaplePrimes, is the current de facto lingua franca because of two centuries of domination by English speaking powers. On the one hand, this fact poses to native/regular English speakers in an advantageous position while it poses a linguistic barrier on the rest.

Now, natural languages are bound to a specific society and its culture (in the widest sense, including politics). But the same fact of imposing English to a multicultural comunity imposes on the other hand to those native/regular English speakers the usage of a different, culturally neutral English, an international English say. This is necessary, to avoid conflicts, even if the different cultures were misrepresented because of the linguistic barrier.

In this regards I have made just a one line remark about the usage of the word "America", a well know controversial issue as the discussion page of the Wikipedia article shows. So, that remark cannot be considered rude. That this discussion here has been so protracted is far beyond my responsability and my wish. I insist, if continued, it should be better continued elsewhere.

On mi side, I would not use (intentionally) controversial terms in my blog.

That expression has problems with indexed names. More simply:

hhz := piecewise(x < x[1], hz[1], x[1] < x and x < x[2],  hz[10]);

Error, (in collect/series) invalid expression for series

hhz := piecewise(x < x1, hz1, x1 < x and x < x2,  hz10);

                       { hz1              x < x1
                hhz := {
                       { hz10        x1 < x and x < x2

I was not aware that the word badge is quite ambiguous, and I have not realized that the intended meaning was like those objects used by the military. I reject strongly the usage of such symbols.

And what does a chili pepper mean in this context? good or bad?

I am not attracted by that stuff. I would prefer to hear about calculations to improve the quality of displayed math output.

Speed of MaplePrimes is, in general fine for me. In fact it was not so bad for me before. I was mainly concerned about its unstable behavior and the long periods of unvailabiliy. I think that I have not found any since the upgrade.

Alec,

What is generically considered rude in most of the other american countries is the appropiation of the name of our continent by a country. And this action is often taken as a symbol of other appropiations.

It is my understanding that MaplePrimes is a place for a multinational comunity, and conflicting words should be avoided if possible. That was the purpose of my remark.

This issue has wide ranging implications. But MaplePrimes does not seem the rigth place for political discussions.

No. In most countries of America, that country is "Estados Unidos" ( EEUU for short). Or informally "Norteamerica", which is also wrong, as it comprises also Canada and part of Mexico. But not America.

And for all those american countries, there is no ambiguity about America as the name of a continent and there is no need to add the word continent. And "Americas" in plural is also wrong as the name of a continent goes in singular.

This is not a personal issue with which I have to agree or not, but a well known matter of  geography and history. That it were standard usage for some people does not make it right. All the same as it were standard usage for some people to call equation to a number.

The former Soviet Union was indeed informally know as Russia because of the name of the "main" country in that union. But Russia is a proper country name. They were not calling themself Eurasia, the name of the continent the union/country was in. And I think that nobody uses "Eurasias" for that continent.

Your meaning is clear, but that usage is wrong.

America is a continent, not a country.
