Thanks for the answer, I also noticed that the key does work in 1D-math. 
Alt codes aren't really an option for me because I'm on a laptop without a numeric pad. 

Another new "bug" I noticed in 2D-math was that when I want to put an exponent I have to double tap the numbers if I use the key next to P (with ^ ¨and [) but no double tap is necessary if I use altgr+6. 

I really like the 2D-math but these things have made it more of a nuisance, I'm considering going back to Maple 16
