Thanks for the suggestions.  Your comment about using a task made me think to try another route which is pretty straight forward.  I put a table at the bottom of the document and made the changes I need.  Now whenever I need to insert a new table I just copy that table and paste it where I need it.  Why I didn't think of doing that before, I have no idea.  That is why it is always nice to have venue to ask questions.
