Sorry for not stating very clearing my problem (actually, it wasn't any homework/assignment. I was just playing around with maple).

Thanks for your time and effort. Your second way of solving the problem was what I was looking for. I wasn't aware of the neither the "unapply" function nor that I could access different solutions by specifying them in brackets. 

 

In a conventional notation you can define a function like f(x;a,b,c) where the semicolon is used to separate variables from parameters. I was wondering if there a similar syntax in maple
