If the Data is what you got from the unit... 'The GPS'. Somehow there seems to be something missing. ie the height 'ASL'. Not that that makes much of a difference in the long run. If the data came from a GPS or the data is modeled exactly like a GPS data set then first we have to figure out what the 768's mean are they: for No movement in the what 1/10 th of a second between readings. or do they indicate something else..creating vectors out of the data with a few assumptions could be done but the assumptions would be critical to an acceptable answer. assumption #1 would be and may be incorrect but the best resolution in public GPS systems is in the area of 1 to 1.5 m. so assuming this and the fact that the integers less than 768 are the number of GPS tick marks traveled in the given  time period. therefore the numbers above would represent. In row one could this corospond to a movement in the East direction of 2*1 to 1.5 meters for the first 1/10 ths of a second ??? As Robert said I think more data is needed. Or at least more insight into the problem you have at hand.

Thank you for the quick answer. the command change did do the job for this specific case. but I have to wonder if there is another more general solution to this type of problem. but if not for now I can make that type of thing work for other graphs to...  Thank you very much again for your response it was very timely and appreciated

Learning mape it seems is much like learning math all over again. but so far much more interesting.

Maybe I have not worded this correctly so let me make this a little more clear.

Rong as far as I know both the form you gave me and the for I have shown are valid maple forms, but as I said the problem is nither my ability to manipulate or solve these types of equations as I have done so for years. My problem is more a matter of how maple and I can interact effectively.

I have recenthly retired and now that I have I can take a look at what all the rage was about maple, however it seems what I take for granted maple does not.  maple requires explicit commands to do the most simple of things, but given what is required of it I can see why.

But back to the problem... all I was asking realy as silly as it may seem is does maple have a command to convert from the form(s) given to the form I stated in the original post.

Thanks again Rob.
