@acer Thanks, and yes that was a typo on my part. I had already tried the prior method you suggested but that resulted in

[{y = -4-(16+x)^(1/2)}, {y = -4+(16+x)^(1/2)}]

The latter method did work but I would prefer to be able to use assumptions with properties but I can make this method work, so thanks very much.
