The other two servers have hadd the hotfix applied and Maple 10 is working again.

I was unable to duplicate the problem on my test server (most likey due to being unable to obtain enough ram so the problem gets triggered - test machine has 512MB). However applying the hotfix mentioned in the post above to our 64bit server (16GB RAM) above has fixed the problem. I'll apply the hotfix to the other two servers (3GB RAM each) tomorrow and confirm results. To get the hotfix, I phoned the local toll-free microsoft support line and asked nicely. It was emailed to me within a few minutes.

I've tried the 10.05 update that was issued to me by my reseller. No luck.

I'm hoping to obtain the Windows Hotfix outlined in KB 924054: Programs that request lots of contiguous memory may fail after you install security update 921883 (MS06-040) on a Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1-based computer or a Windows XP Professional x64 Edition-based computer. In the meantime I'm setting up a test machine so that I can roll back 921883 to see if this is the cause.

Tested and no it does not work. Reinstalling Maple 10 doesn't work either. I've rolled back the non-critical patches from August and still no success.

I will be trying a few more things this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed

The machines where Maple 10 doesn't work are reporting versions 233114. Those that do work are all reporting version 222373. Those that aren't working have 2003 Server's service pack 1 installed (thus do have DEP, though Maple 10 has been working since SP1) and those that are working do not have SP1 installed. DEP is looking like a possible suspect.

Currently DEP is set to 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:'. The exceptions include the Maple 10 installer (WinNetworkInstaller.exe) to get round the install problem in the FAQ. I'll try swtiching over to the option you mentioned at a time I can reboot the machine.

This isn't happening with all of the machines Maple 10 is installed on. Maple 10 is working fine on 4 machines (all dual athlons running Win 2003 Server), but won't start on 2 similar machines and it's also broken on a 64bit machine (2 x dual cored Opteron running Win 2003 server, 64bit ed.)
