I asked this several days ago in

and didn't get an answer. Today I found a solution with the help of the java expert of our university. In the file lauch.ini in the Maple directory bin.win replace the line

# java_args=-Dfoo -Dbar

by

java_args=-Duser.language=en -Duser.region=US

I would be grateful, if some experts could comment on possible side effects of this setting.
