Maple 🍁 2023.1 solved the problem. Tested it once and it worked 'right out of the box'.

And the most simple temporary fix is to open Help via F1, Menu -> Help -> Maple Help, ? + Enter, etc. and immediately close the help window and return to the Maple worksheet or - document. The workaround only works for the actual session and must be repeated next time you start Maple.

I followed the intstructions in the first two bullet points. I can't say that it worked 100%, but at least some 95% or more of my work was saved. Only minor parts of a table was lost.

I didn't succeed because I had to repair the "same" file over and over again the following days. I found out that copying certain parts of my document containing a large table apparantly caused the corrupted files.
