Thanks, but I don't see how this helps!  There are no solutions to (2), but your approach claims that there are some!

 

With regard to your PS, what difference does it make using fk rather than f[k]?  How do I refer to fk as I vary k -- I mean I generate these inequalities by for instance writing f[i]+f[j] where I loop over i and j.
