I get the same result if I use CTRL+C, if I right click and select copy or use the copy button. 

And i don't know what the difference between matrix and Matrix is. I just use the matrix dropdown from the Palettes sidebar. 

But it seems more like a bug now, because if i use cut instead of copy, i sometimes get an edible matrix
