To the best of my knowledge there are two non-technical solutions to this problem.

1) If you have Logitech mouse, then installing the Logitech Mouseware software with versions pre-9.61 will provide an emulation layer for the scroll mouse working in the classic interface of Maple.

2) Much better solution available to everyone is to install a little utility called KatMouse (see http://ehiti.de/katmouse/ ).

Originally created to support some extra features for wheel mice, it emulates the scroll in older programs that do not support it properly.

To be completely honest, I cannot see while Maple did not even bother to fix it for this long. You get people to appreciate your user interfaces by fixing major annoyances like this one; not by creating bloated monsters barely functioning on top computers of nowadays. But where are my manners...
