To comments 1 and 4:
I'm trying to finish up one task where 99% of my work for said task is already in MATLAB.  I am intending to use Maple purely to do the algebra for me.  I don't know Maple very well (which was why I posted the question in the first place), and came to this forum for help.  Yes I know that a lot of what I am doing in MATLAB can be done in Maple.

To answer comments 2 and 3:
I don't have Maple as the symbolic toolbox in MATLAB.  Last time I had set that up, it created issues when I tried to switch back to the normal symbolic mode (without Maple formatting).  And yes MATLAB really hates symbols which is why I was trying to just get an expression with variables which can be set.  I ~could~ have used them as symbols but I already had a solution path which didn't require them.

In any case, I managed to fix the issue myself: the answer to the 4th order polynomial spits out 4 difference answers (of course), so I converted the answers to a list and then only had the Maple language convert these one at a time into MATLAB-speak.
