You are the man!  That's exactly what I was trying to see.  Thank you.  I so appreciate the help.  I would never have figured that out on my own.

I still don't understand how this all works yet.  I've had this program since September but I don't use it nearly as much as I would like.  It is such a great tool especially now (I'm taking Calc III) but I don't know where I would have gotten info like this without having to come into the forum and I apparently don't know how to ask for what I need.  Frustrating!

All you guys are great.  Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again, everyone,

   Z

implicitplot3d((x^2-y^2)/(x^2+y^2), x = -.5 .. .5, y = -.5 .. .5, z = -2 .. 2, grid = [30, 30, 30]) is the plot that I'm trying to show that the limit DNE.  In 3d I can't see it.  Maybe that's my problem, I'm in 3d.  How do I switch to 2d?

I'm still not getting the graph I want but at least I'm getting one now.  I'll have to work with the function a bit.

I'm trying to show that the limit DNE where the two surfaces come together.  If you are looking straight down the z-axis from the top, you would be looking at the intersection of the surfaces (it would appear as two lines since the surfaces are vertical) and it wont show that they are undefined where they intersect.  It continues to show them as two continuous intersecting lines.

I've tried scaling the x and y axis down and it showed it a couple of times as I tried different settings but I can't get it to show again.
