Jorge A. R. Durán received his B.A degree in Mechanical Engineering at "Marta Abreu" Central University, Cuba (1988), his M.S degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (1997) and his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, also at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (2001). He is currently an adjunct professor at Federal Fluminense University. His research interests includes the Mechanical Behavior of Materials and acts mainly in the following areas: mechanical design for fatigue and fracture mechanics applied to the fatigue cracks propagation.
