@Robert: thanks, I think it worked, but I'm getting a "Warning, unable to evaluate the function to numeric values in the region;" each time I try to plot3d it, can't find the right values - any ideas (also, about the height - since it's not regular, I'm kinda lost on this)?

About the torus, I got it displayed, and rotated the right way, but I can't get it spinning - for some reason each example from plots[animate] generates an error :[
