MaplePrimes Activity

I agree, the backward compatability is actually really good.

There are in some cases where an application won't fully display itself on newer maple versions....

Hold on one second!  I just realized and tried the application in Classic Maple 12 which works fine (don't know why I didn't think of that earlier).  It just doesn't  display so well in the GUI.  I suppose if you were a user of the Classic interface you wouldn't notice it.  I use the standard GUI all the time.

And the reason for installing such an old version on a new PC?  Well, the problems just kept mounting up.
First the application didn't work in Maple12 GUI so I thought I needed to install and older version to view it properly.  Then I ran into the divide by zero overflow error, so then find an older computer where I had already installed my MapleVr3 and found out it was actually a MapleVr5 application which wouldn't run on my MapleVr3 then I started searching for an old newer version of Maple that might run the MapleVr5 app.  Didn't have Maple6 but did have Maple7 which of course worked.  Then as you can see, I just found out it would have worked perfectly fine in the Classic version.

Now it's just for the fun of trying to get MapleVr3 to work on a new PC - it should but it doesn't start so how do we do it?  Maybe messing around with the maple.ini file might help it load properly, not really sure.  Then just now I'm even pondering wether I could get the old version to work on my smartphone.  Now that would be a challenge!

Anyways I'd like to clear / fix up the divide by zero error if we could.

Without access to Maple I cannot access and marvel over peoples work in the application center on my smartphone.

View html version still does not work.

Not sure if Maplesoft has picked up on this issue yet.  I will submit a software change request, the issue may have been missed.

Ironically I just found that problem yesterday but I thought it was a problem on my end and I was going to take a look at it later today.  See if it was on my end or a site problem.  Looks like the latter.

The initial search pass returns nothing there is a bug somewhere there. Further Search clicks also return nothing.

However ...

Clicking on advanced search after it has searched brings up 5 pages of applications with polynom root and clicking further to versions prior to Maple 10 we get another 9 pages of applications with polynom root.

I saw something similar to this last year.  But I thought it was related to my out-dated Internet Explorer.  I didn't bring the issue up again when I switched to firefox for fear that more tinkering in the application center by programmers might break it (vaguely recalling the data loss, but then found again, when mapleprimes switched over to version 2)

Pardon my lack of understanding, but why would you need to convert *.mw files to *.mws ?

I cannot view the html version of any application in the application center.  Since it is not fixed and I still experience the problem, it must be that no one else experiences this problem.  This is on Firefox, and my mobile phone Android.

Usually when I report a problem here in mapleprimes, it gets picked up by maplesoft.  I posted the issue last Friday, again it is Friday and doesn't appear anyone picked up the problem.  So I think I should update this thread on Monday for someone at Maplesoft to take a look at the issue then.

@ Junlin Xu, you may have a point about System Modeller not fully integrated with Mathematica.

However had you fully understood the functionality of Mathematica's system modeller you would have known that, and I quote
"... SystemModeler integrates directly with Mathematica—bringing in our whole 25-year Mathematica technology stack." from Stephen Wolfram himself.

Also remember to keep your thoughts of other peoples understanding to yourself, thank you.

Thanks Acer, yes that is indeed what I was looking for.

So using the worksheet and working backwards we can use Maple to restore the data file that was missing in the first place and hopefully the application can be restored in the application center.

Actually it is the data that creates the graph that was and still is missing. Firstly, Does anyone have it ??

However clever maple people we are, we could devise a method to extract the missing data from the presented graph on the worksheet.

Maple 16 has a closest datum option on the point probe so we could meticulously position the cursor on each point and enter the data in a txt file ... one .... by .... one.  But really we don't need to do that.

For some reason I thought we could select the points and pull it off (drag and drop) to copy the data in the form of listed points.  I could have sworn that was an option in newer versions of Maple.  op() I thought might work here but that's only if Maple calculated the graph, not if it was a graph from a saved worksheet.

I had created a method earlier to pull data from a jpg graph and we could do that here as well, but there must be an easier way for this as the graph is digitized already in the worksheet.  Anone have any ideas?

My Maple 12 has slowed right down after a few runs, it has almost stopped /crashed as we speak.

Here is the code if you wanted some animation.  Just some small modification to the last line in Johns code above, I also change n:=128 to speed it up a bit but after a few runs my Maple has become slow and unresponsive.

animate(display,[PLOT3D(MESH(op([1,1],q),op([1,4..-1],p)),op(2..-1,q)),orientation=[A,90]],A=0..360);

Using Johns method with the same JPG in my earlier earth post with n:=256 in M12 we get a wonderful globe

And here is the archived webpage in mht format.  I could not load the mht file directly so I had to zip it.

You show a picture from an application in Maple 12.  Not sure which application that is, you can probably find that in the Maplesoft application center.

The Maple 16 picture you refer to, is it the intertwining tubeplots graphics on the Maple 16 cover?

Physics applications?  There should be some in the Maplesoft application center.  have you searched there?
