I tried

chcon -t texrel_shlib_t *.so

as you suggested,  but Maple 13 still doesn't work, with the same SELinux error message.  I have to put SELinux in permissive mode to get it to work.

Also,  I have no idea what that command accomplished.    Is there some way to check that?

Finally, when I installed Maple 13,  I did it as myself, so all its files are owned by me.  I executed the command as myself, and there was no complaint.  Do you think it would have made a difference if I had executed it as root.  Do you think it would have worked?

Would it work if I chose some other argument to -t?

Possibly I might be able to get this right if I understood the nitty gritty of SELinux,  but I'm  77, and I don't want to spend the rest of my life, limited as it may be, doing that.

Anything enlightening would be useful.
